Want to travel the world but don’t have enough money ? I have been travelling without a job for the last 2 years.
### Travel the World on a Budget
To travel the world, you just need time and money. If you have a good job, you have a lot of money, but not much time. And if you travel like me, you have a lot of time, but not much money. So, you will have to take time off from work, but I can manage with less money. I can share everything I’ve learned in my three years of budget travel. If that sounds interesting, keep watching the video.
Welcome to the Punjabi Wanderers YouTube channel. If you’re watching me for the first time, my name is Devang. In 2018, I quit my job to travel full-time. Since then, I have traveled to Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Russia, Iceland, Greenland, Bhutan, Nepal, and many countries in Europe without having a job. So, let’s start the video.
### Finding Cheap Flights
The biggest expense is usually flights. Whether your trip is a week or a month, the flight cost is the same. You might be a YouTuber or a travel blogger and get airline sponsorships, like I’ve had with Air Astana, Luxembourg Air, Nepal Air, and Greenland Air. However, getting sponsorships involves a lot of effort, like writing convincing emails.
For this video, let’s assume no one is sponsoring us, and we need to buy our own flights. The best way to find cheap flights is using Google Flights. Enter your destination, source, and dates, and use the date grid option to see the cheapest flights based on flexible dates. Once you find the cheapest dates, check other websites like MakeMyTrip and Yatra for deals and cashbacks, and book your ticket where you find the best offer.
### Accommodation
The best way to save on accommodation is by Couchsurfing. This allows you to stay with locals for free. I’ve made a separate video detailing how to use Couchsurfing, so check that out for more information.
Another option is Workaway. Unlike Couchsurfing, Workaway requires you to work in exchange for accommodation. This could be anything from being a hotel receptionist to gardening. There is a registration fee for Workaway, and it suits those who stay in one place for a few weeks or a month. You work part of the day and explore in the evenings, but it’s not ideal if you want full days for sightseeing.
Hostels are another cheap option worldwide. They provide dormitory-style accommodation with shared rooms and common bathrooms. Websites like Hostelworld.com, Hostels.com, and Booking.com are great for finding hostels.
### Food
Eating in restaurants can be expensive. In Europe, a single meal can cost 10-12 euros (around 1000 rupees). Instead, shop at supermarkets and cook your meals in hostel kitchens. You can also opt for fast food or street food like McDonald’s and KFC, which offer meals for 5-6 euros.
### Hitchhiking
Hitchhiking means asking for lifts from people while traveling from one place to another. It’s a great way to connect with locals and learn more about the place, but it comes with risks since you don’t know the intentions of the person giving you a lift. I’ve never had a bad experience, but caution is necessary. Public transport is relatively cheap and safe, so I prefer that over hitchhiking.
### Partying
Partying can be expensive, so do it according to your budget. If you’re visiting three cities, you don’t need to party in all of them. Choose one or two.
### Conclusion
I hope you found these tips useful. I’ve made similar videos for Prague, Iceland, Sri Lanka, Andaman, and other parts of Europe, so feel free to check them out. There are many vlogs on my channel, including ones from Greenland, Iceland, and Andaman. Don’t forget to subscribe, hit the bell icon, and follow me on Instagram. See you in the next video. Bye and thank you!
