A tour of Sokcho begins in the northern area of Gangwon-do, South Korea. From a lively downtown area to easy access to Mt.

Seokcho is a sleepy seaside town in the northeast of the country, close to the North Korean border, and is a great base from which to explore the amazing Seoraksan National Park.

There are several fascinating museums in the town that explain the history of the region, and highlight the hardships of daily life in the past.

The town was built on the Sea of Japan, and its beautiful beach is well worth a visit, however it is only open for swimming for a short period in July and August.

Much of Seokcho’s daily life revolves around the harbor and its fishing fleet. The colorful night markets offer all kinds of food, as well as the freshest produce and seafood.
